Treatment Against Tapeworms

E U Pet Passport Requirements

Before pets are allowed to re-enter the UK under the scheme, they have to be treated
against the fox tapeworm (Echinococcus multilocularis). The pet must be treated against
the tapeworm using praziquantel

When Does my Pet Have to Have This Treatment?

There is no mandatory requirement for tick treatment and tapeworm rules will now apply to dogs only as from 01 January 2012.. The treatment has to be administered no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours (1-5 days) before its scheduled arrival time in the UK. The French vet will endorse the appropriate page in the EU Pet Passport. For the treatment, all of the information requested, must be supplied. That is, the manufacturer and name of the product used, the date and time of the application, and the stamp and signature of the vet. The transport company staff will check your pet and will need to see the passport,
so be sure to keep it safe. No other documentation will be acceptable.
